Kurtijar Aboriginal Corporation welcomes you to the land on behalf of our elders past and present.
Kurtijar Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) was established in 1994 and is the owner of Morr Morr Pastoral Company which operates Delta Downs Station. KAC is a not-for-profit corporation endorsed by the Australian Charitable Not for Profit Commission and serves the needs of the Kurtijar community.
Kurtijar People are the Traditional Owners of the land, rivers, and saltwater country in the south-east Gulf of Carpentaria. We are proud of our culture and welcome visitors to experience our country.
The Kurtijar People would like to take the opportunity to share our land and history with you. We’re proud of the natural beauty and wildlife here, and we know you’ll find it just as spectacular as we do.
One of the best ways to enjoy Delta Downs Station is by camping here with friends and family and immersing yourself in the natural beauty.
Our aim is to manage the natural and cultural priorities or our Country while providing visitors with an enjoyable and memorable experience. Here at Delta, we’re not just about cattle, we also have pristine beaches and turtle hatcheries, unique birdwatching, abundant fishing and hunting opportunities. We really have something that will interest every member of the family.
Delta Downs Station is one of Australia most successful Indigenous run enterprises. First established around 1889, nearly 100 years later in 1982 we became Australia’s first cattle station run by Traditional Owners, and we have grown to employ about 30 local Indigenous people.
Delta Downs has over 1 million wild acres, and we run 40,000 to 45,000 cattle depending on the time of year. The station is actually 3 properties Delta Downs, Maggieville Outstation and Karumba Holdings, all run from our homestead on Delta..
